Design features of Cantata include:

All these features have been incorporated as a result of very extensive research backed up by very many listening sessions.

Pure palladium conductor wire

All wires sound different when used to carry an audio signal. Our listening tests have demonstrated many times that, as a general rule, more expensive wires give superior sound quality. And the wires that deliver the very best sound are extremely expensive such as the 6 metals in the ‘Platinum Group’ of Precious Metals. These include palladium, ruthenium, iridium, osmium and rhodium. Palladium is the least expensive metal in the group and is used most in very high-end audio cables. Rhodium is a far more expensive but is used extensively in the plating of audio connectors because of the very small quantity required for plating.

Compared with less expensive metals, palladium bring a much more natural presentation to music. Once you hear the sound of palladium wire, you will not want to go back.

Deep Cryogenic Treatment

Deep Cryogenic Treatment re-aligns the molecules in the metal to a much more natural state. This is achieved by slowly cooling the metal to – 186 degrees and slowly returning to room temperature. Its effect on music may not at first seem great, but on extended listening to music you really like, you will say that the experience was far more satisfying using cryogenically treated cables. As we say in our advertising, DCT adds Depth, Clarity and Timing to the music.

DCT++

DCT++ is an addition to Deep Cryogenic Treatment in which the wire is raised in temperature above room temperature as part of the temperature cycle. Sonically it doubles the benefits of DCT.

Crystal Sound

The ‘Crystal Sound’ is an addition to the DCT process in which impurities on the surface of the wire are reduced. This gives a further improvement to sound. On one test, the musicians seemed to be playing the music faster, making the performance more involving to listen when that cable with added ‘Crystal Sound’ process was used.

Air / PTFE dielectric

The distortion to music by dielectric Absorption is an unpleasant time smearing effect. Inserting the wire in a PTFE tube of much larger diameter than the wire reduces this distortion considerably.

Highly effective RFI and EMI screening

Black Rhodium has spent a lot of time and effort to determine the most effective way to screen the cable from external radio frequency and electromagnetic interference. Several layers of screen are applied so as to create an electrically clean environment for the sensitive wires carrying high quality music.

Outer braid with vibration damping properties

The attractive outer braid material has been specially chosen for its highly effective damping of vibration in the cable that can reduce clarity in music.

Rhodium plated RCA connectors

Rhodium might be far too expensive to be used as conductor wire, but is commonly used on all the very best audio connectors. Straight Line Contact return conductor

The use of a ‘Straight Line Contact’ return is highly effective and derives from the work of Keith Eichmann of ‘Bullet Plug’ fame. The very first I auditioned a plug with a ‘Straight Line Contact’ return, I knew it was a very big sonic improvement when the first note was played.
